This man called and identified himself as Marco Mikheal with AT&T and asked me if I thought my bill was too high. He then said he was going to upgrade my phone to a new IPhone 16 free of charge just to apologize for my bill being too high. I never mentioned that I’m a prepaid customer and that I have an unlocked Iphone14 that was given to me by my mother and it was paid off a few years ago when it was purchased from an independent non AT&T online merchant. Anyhow, to get the “free” upgrade, I was asked to pay a one time handling fee of $79.00 and upon recieving my payment, Thayer would send me the phone. When I told him I didn’t have it at the time, he then told me that because I was such a valued customer that always paid my bill on time, that he would set it up and the handling fee could be billed in installments, but he’d need my card number to set it up. I then told him I didn’t have it with me and he asked what day he could call me back and we could get the billing plan set up and I said Monday. He asked if 10 am would be ok. I told him, “sure”. Monday came and went and I have yet to hear back from the gentleman nor anyone else on the matter. Obvious scam.
