Call from an "Unknown" number. Left voice message and said they were "county process dispatch service" and this msg is for (my real name) and they were serving me a summons (via voice mail?) from the "Contact Issuing Firm" and to call The Contact Issuing Firm at 877-578-3024 using claim #2021-YYYYYY. The caller used the phrase "This is a Notice that you have been Served" at the end of the voice message. I have no outstanding debt issues, retired and able to take some time to dig into stuff that pisses me off. Further checking reveals the same MO with different phone #'s using the same "Contact Issuing Firm" called Archibald law group. https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-855-212-0128. https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-271-7010
Bottom line is that this type of "process service" / collection tactic violates all legal norms. Two distinct types of action are taking place and never co-mingled; Process Service and Debt Collection.
Legitimate process service for a summons is straight forward. Summons will indicate the Courthouse and Case #, date and time etc. Legitimate Process Servers serve Court Summons and do not imply drama and necessity to call the "Contact Issuing Firm" for details. Process Servers do one job and only one job, they serve a summons. A Court ordered Summons can not be implied via a voicemail message.
Process Servers do not usually call and inform you of an upcoming Summons (defeats the purpose physical serving). A "Heads-up" process service phone call and related hyperbole to create time sensitivity and fear is NOT the job of a legal Process Server.
I confirmed the "Contact Issuing Firm" to be Archibald Law Group and filed appropriate complaint with my State Attorney Generals office and the FTC at: https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
