They called referencing my brother in law (who’s been deceased for over 10 years) and said there was a complaint lodged against him long message with zero info as to what it was actually about.
They left a message on my husband's phone. When I answered a call from "a law firm" stating that someone will be bring papers for me to sign for court I said oh okay is that from Winnebago county? she said yes after a long pause. They never showed up. Scams drive me crazy.
Same as all the other calls below. Called me by my previous name but had my current address. Said they sent docs but had no response. Called from a spoofed local phone number. Neither than number or this number are verifiable as any that goes to "Abbott and **sociates". I only got that name from them after fighting on the phone for info. They also called my sister and law and her husband who I don't see often or any business dealings with and left the msg. I noticed the msg left sounded like AI, they called me twice and left part of a msg (it cut off) and then 2 mins later again...same wording..all spaced exactly the same, same tone, no voice variations. I reported to fTC, Atty General, and BBB.
They have called my family member looking for me. They have threatened to serve me legal paperwork to my house. They are trying to collect on a bank account from damn near 20 years ago. to dispute and go to court would cost over $4,000. to settle would be just over $1,000.00.
This number keeps calling me and my family members. I spoke with someone once and they said it was about a bank account from 20 years ago. I never had an account there. I told them that. They said they were going to serve me at my address. I told them go ahead and serve me. They haven't served me they just threaten to do so. I do not want to call them back and I told my family to block their calls. If this is legitimate then they need to mail me information. Patti Durfee
They left a message stating there was a complaint lodged against me, and that I needed to contact the firm directly handling the matter. Scammers try anything and everything these days. Sad when you have to screen every phone call that comes through.
A & A LAW CALLED SAYING THEY HAD A CERTIFIED LETTER FOR US WITH A CASE FILE NUMBER AND THIS PHONE NUMBER TO CALL WITH QUESTIONS. THE PERSON VERIFIED MY ADDRESS. THERE WAS NO LEGAL PAPERWORK WORK DELIVERED. DO NOT OFFER ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THIS NUMBER. THIS IS A SCAM.
Called me saying "the firm" had a claim filed against me and I needed to call back. Everything was very general and non specific. If there is a legitimate matter pending against you, the agency handling things will identify the agency by name. Nor just the name of the person making the call.
They contacted my brother who is never put down as a reference and whose phone number is a brand new number changed recently.
Tried to shake me down for over $3000, but would settle for $900.
