Got fraudulent letter from AARP, informing my husband, who has Parkinson’s Disease, his credit card had declined auto payment on out Rx insurance for 2 months and if not taken care of in 24 hours our insurance would be terminated. The fraudulent letter was on a photocopy of black and white AARP logo but not real letterhead. The amount of declined payment was $30.90, however I knew our payment in HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, had recently been auto paid by our bank on September 30, 2019. This fraudulent letter said our payment was due on November 1, 2019. Unbeknownst to my husband and thinking he was actually speaking with an AARP customer service representative he gave them my credit card number and all the information on it. I walked into his office as a woman was asking him an irrelevant question, and immediately noticed her very thick accent was of someone from India, which most all scam calls come from. I told him it was a scam call but he’d already given my credit card number with an extremely large credit limit. I picked up the letter and went into another room and called the exact number he had called. A man with a very thick accent answered, saying his name was “Greg Allen,†and asked how he could help me. I told him he could only help me by undoing the damage that another person in the call center had just done by scamming my senior husband with an extremely case of Parkinson’s Disease, and “Greg Allen†hung up.
THESE SCAMMERS IN INDIA CALL CENTERS HAVE NO MORALS, AND COME UP WITH SUCH OFFICIAL LOOKING DOCUMENTS THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO SOMETIMES REALIZE THEY ARE NOT LEGITIMATE. I THANK YOU TUBE FOR ALL THE INFORMATIVE VIDEOS THE “SCAMBAITERS†SHARE.
