Ascension Point (Recovery Services) is a debt collector (for credit card companies etc) trying to collect from deceased individuals. They call anyone related to the person who died “trying to reach the person authorized to discuss the financial matters of the late _______.” They do not identify themselves as a debt collector until pushed for that information. According to the BBB they are a legitimate company but do have some BBB complaints. Proceed cautiously and ask for everything to be sent in writing (preferably to an address other than your home address like a PO Box etc)

Fraud debt collector- they call relatives of recently deceased and claim they need a credit card number to pay off outstanding debt
