Left automated message that my Social Security Number is under investigation. They said that my social security number was being used for fraudulent purposes and to call back immediately. First time I called back a man with a heavy accent answered and wanted my name. I refused to give it. I told him since they called me he should know who this is. He gave me my first and last name-pronounced my last name incorrectly. I told him I’m not that person-and was about to say that I would take a message. He immediately ended the call. I tried calling again—this time I heard three “hoop†sounds and call was dropped. They called me again and left the same recorded message regarding fraudulent activity with my Social Security Number. I called back. This time a female answered...forgot to mention that each time my calls were answered it sounded like a very busy call center. Anyways, I inform this woman that I was recording this call and demanded to know where the call was coming from. She said Texas. I told her that was ironic because I’ve tried to get on disability and all numbers dealing with that came from within my resident state. Both the man and woman that answered my calls had very heavy accents—o could BARELY UNDERSTAND WHAT THE WOMAN TOLD ME. She claimed my SSI # was being used for illegal activities. I asked for the case number and informed her I will be notifying her authorities. She then began to apologize and promised never to call my number again. She then hung up. I am handicapped, I don’t drive, and have a very low income. This was a horrible scam that cause me to have a seizure! These people are thieves and need to be investigated.
