Owner of number cloned the Instagram account of a personal contact; sent me a “follow†request with that person’s photo; began to message me via the app. When I shared my cell phone number, they began to send me text messages, still posing as the personal contact. I was initially suspicious when I received the Instagram request, but I inadvertently accepted. When I started receiving frequent text messages, I traced the cell number provided. I immediately blocked and deleted the contact.
