The owner information you list above is correct. It does belong to Wells Fargo. This number is listed on bill stubs each account holder receives in the mail. That said, I'd like to share my experience with these people.
I made payment on an account I have with Wells Fargo on August 27. Four days ago, I received a mid-afternoon call sying the bank had "something very important to share with me". This is not specific information, and I was given no compelling reason to call back, so I didn't - and I have not done so to date. If the CSR who called (no name given) said something like, "You're a valued customer who pays bills on time, so we're wondering why we haven't received payment for the cycle that just ended last weekend. Would you mind giving us a call so we can straighten this out?" Now, THAT is a call I would have gladly responded to. Now the bank is har**sing me as many as four times a day, starting at 8:20 AM EST and has not left me any messages. In fact, these people hang up on my very short outgoing message before it finishes running.
Wells Fargo has been in the throes of a public relations crisis that has garnered national attention since the middle part of last week. I do not trust this bank with money I sent to cover an installment for a set of hearing aids I purchased in April. Unless it can prove to me beyond the shadow of a doubt it never received the payment, I have a hunch somebody swiped my check (because it was made out to Wells Fargo), and that person is now in the process of trying to use it to open a fake account. I will be checking my bank account information momentarily to check for any changes since I last inspected it three days ago.
