I received a call yesterday from a person who stated they were from the Desoto County Sheriffs Dept regarding missing a federal jury report date. They proceeded to tell me that I needed to come to 3091 Industrial Dr on yesterday to handle the matter. I was told that I needed to pay $1600 in cashiers check but I would be receiving it back once my signature analysis was completed and it proved that I did not sign the summons served on me which I failed to appear on.
I contacted the jury clerk in the Northern District Office in Oxford and was told this was a hoax or scam and I needed to report it to the local sheriffs office.
It definitely made me a nervous wreck for the entire evening because I had no recollection of receiving anything regarding jury duty back in December.
