Caller identified himself as a McAfee employee, Arry Demento. Since I had just call McAfee, I thought he was legimate (He called within an hour of my conversation with McAfee.) He asked permission to access my computer since he saw that it had viruses and malware which need to be removed, which I granted. He worked several hours and showed me a copy of what he removed. For any inconvience, he was going to give me a $140.00 which he would ACH to my bank account. He took me to a portal which asked a lot of personal information. He instructed me to enter 140 followed by two \"0\" and submit.
He began to hollar, \"You transferred $14,000 to your account and you are in bad trouble - prison time, fines, locked computed, etc.\" He then open my bank account to show that the $14,000 had been posted. He would instruct me how to return the money. \"Go down to your bank and withdraw $7,000 in cash (my balance was $22,000) today and tomorrow withdraw another $7,000)\" I knew then it was a scam and did not wait for instruction as what to do with the money. I told him I was reporting him and hung up. At the bank there was no record of $14,000 deposit into my account or $14,000 being withdraw. I am closing the account and reopening another one.
I hope this information will help others.
