I received a call from this number from a woman claiming I had missed a nearly $700 payment required in order to have my application processed for the Student Loan Borrower's Defense Program. I previously paid them $1,749 for their service in May, which they're now claiming there is no record of (even though I have bank statements to prove it). I am allegedly eligible for this reduced rate due to my current income.

I used studentaid.gov's website to call the Borrower's Defense people directly and was told there is no fee whatsoever for their service or for the application, and that they believe I was scammed.

I attempted to contact the "compliance manager" whose phone number I was given back in May, and it has since been disconnected.
