The recorded message that was played upon my answering the call, stated that my social security number had been suspended due to suspicious activity and to press “1” for more information. I knew this to be a scam, so I pressed “1” and a woman who sounded to be of an Indian background asked me for my information to open the account so that she could tell me what the “suspicious activity” was. I asked if I could tell her something first, and she said, “what do you want or need to say?,” to which I (lied) told her that I was employed by the administration and I knew this was a scam/fraudulent call, and she (with a very nasty tone) cut me off to say, “yeah, ok” and hung up on me.
