Phoney buyer posed as legitimate buyer for a FB marketplace item I listed. Opened Venmo app to see that payment was sent. There was a phone number ON VENMO APP instructing me to call, which I did. They said buyer had paid from business account to my personal account and Venmo automatically charged them more to meet minimum business requirement. They gave me instructions to “authorize my account” and pay them back from Apple Cash, which I stupidly did. Then the “buyer “ said they mistakenly paid twice and they asked for more. That’s when it sounded just too weird and I refused. The first time I checked with Venmo, they said it did show a lengthy call with an agent. That’s what I don’t understand. The second time I called, they said it was a scam. Can’t get funds back from Apple cash.
