Screened a call from this number. No message was left. As I live in another state, I blocked the number. A few days later the number was blocked by my phone.

Please be advised that we were notified today that some individual or organization was trying to collect money on behalf of local fire departments in our area. Unfortunately for them they called the Fire Chiefs wife who immediately alerted us of this possible scam. The call appears to originate from 940-532-1040.
The Prosper Fire Department is not seeking any kind of donations at this time. This appears to be a localized incident.
For the immediate future, the public should be cautious if approached to donate funds to either the Prosper Fire Department or "local fire departments". Please contact **st. Chief Stuart Blasingame at 972-347-2424 if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Recieve a call from this number multiple times a day, and it continuously says "congratulations you won a free meal at 'a' restaurant in Wichita Falls and 2 free all round plane tickets anywhere is the US. Every time I block a number a new number is calling me. How is my number so known by people I don't actually know at all??

They call all hours and expecially on Sunday night.

I got a call from this number. Caller said he was with the fire fighters support group and sounded like bs. It was Sunday at 6:35pm. I hung up.

random call I received today about 11:30 Sunday and my husband received same call mid morning Saturday, the day before. No message was left on either phone. I just wonder why these idiots think there's even a possibility I would answer a call from Graham Tx when there's not even a message. I live in Dallas, do they really believe I know of or KNOW ANYONE in Graham Tx. Grow some balls people and leave a proper message.

I called back. Computerized Recording that said they couldn't take my call now. It's probably a bogus call. I say that because the recording never identified the company. - any company on the up and up who immediately identify themselves.

Called my work cell while in traffic, in a school zone no less. Left no message. Number only differs by last 3 digits from an actual friend / acquaintance. Found enough Google search hits to suspect it's another spoofed in-state number used by scammers, maybe custom tailored by compromising individual number call histories to improve the odds of the "mark" answering these kind of calls.
Also got calls pretending to come from numerous other small communities in the past week. So while I never actually talked to whoever called, the pattern strongly suggests the robocall people are using a new tactic that resembles "spearphishing", since lots of people have gotten wise to the spoofed numbers from major cities to phones in more rural areas.
