I'm so glad I found this forum. I almost fell for it! These idiots have been calling me for the last two weeks, I don't pick up anymore. If only I could send a seize and desist letter so I can then take legal action on their scamming shenanigans (sigh). The calls don't stop even after I stated it was the wrong number.

They call 3 or 4 times a day whether I answer or not - what is my recourse to stop this?

Just like the other comments, I also received a call (two times) from someone stating that they were from Advanced Locators and a civil case had been filed against me. Asked what state he was calling from said Florida. I asked what county was the case filed in he said it can be filed any where. I explained that unless they had written documentation to send me I would no longer talk to them and I disconnected the call.

I have no debts as my husband and I cancelled our credit when I returned to school in 2016. They aren't even using my legal name which any credit would be in. Don't give them ANYTHING.

Just like the other comments, I also received a call (two times) from someone stating that they were from Advanced Locators and a civil case had been filed against me. They gave me a phone number (the first time) and I called it. They sounded pretty official, though I did not confirm that I was the person they were looking for. I told my husband who then did some research and found out that they are just third party bill collectors. I have a debt that goes back about 16 years. I double checked the statute of limitations to file a lawsuit in my state, which is 4 years. They called back today stating that I would receive legal documents within the next few days. He then asked if I would like the phone number to call and get more information. I promptly said No. He then hung up. The scam is that they have you call the number, they tell you who the old creditor is, then attempt to compel you to pay the old debt. They cannot do anything to you legally.

I owe no one any money in any state. Never had a credit card that went unpaid. Don't care WHO thinks they "bought the paper for a debt". I have NO outstanding debts. Period. So the people at Advanced Locators are just people trying to scam people out of money. If this was anything close to real they would be contacting people via registered letter. Since they didn't have my name I knew they were full of crap.

Bill collector / Nasty people

Called me today, saying there was a claim against me, that I would be served papers in the next few days and then gave me a case number and phone number. I didn't write the phone # down but I'm pretty sure it was the same number that has been mentioned in the posts above. I was trying to act like I wasn't aware that the whole thing was phony, not because I was trying to fool them but because I actually felt sorry for this goof who was trying so hard to sound "official" but was not doing a very good job. This is obviously a scam - I have no potential judgements that could be brought against me. The scam works by your calling the number they provide, then they tell you you need to "settle out of court" by sending them some money. Don't worry about it or waste your time.

I answer, then nothing. Hang up they call back, nothing. Not a word. 4 calls in 2 days.
